Phillies Dugout

Phillies July Storyline

After a 4-game of the New York Mets at home towards the end of the month of June, it seemed like the Phillies had put their struggles behind them with a chance to carry some momentum into July. Then they lost two of three to the Miami Marlins. After losing a series to the Braves, the Phillies won the series against the Mets to at least save face before the All-Star break.

After losing two of three to Nats out of the break, the Phillies somehow split a 4-game series with the Dodgers, won the Pirates series, and then swept a 2-gamer with the Tigers.

Then came the Braves, who humiliated the Phillies by a margin of 24-9 in the first two games of that series.

All in all, July was not an altogether horrible month and they walked away with a winning record, but the Phillies need to go on a serious run if they have any chance of catching the Braves, and holding off the surging Nationals.
