Phillies 2016 Record: 58-67

The Phillies lost their second straight series to the Cards and the Dodgers, but the Phils are really hanging in there in 2016. They have a winning record in August and have played .500 baseball since July 20, a span of 30 games.

It still has been every bit the rebuilding season we expected with plenty of ups and downs. The leader board bears that out. While players like Rupp, Hernandez, and Joseph have been pleasant surprises, Herrera and Franco have been slight disappointments.

The starting pitching is a mess right now with injuries and ineffectiveness from Velasquez and Thompson. With innings limits on both Velasquez and Thompson, they don't have many chances to finish strong. It sure is nice to still have Hellickson, though, isn't it.
