It has been reported by multiple sources that the Phillies have signed starter John Lannan to a one year contract. The deal is reportedly for 1 year with $2.5 million guaranteed and performance bonuses that could increase his salary to $5 million total.
Lannan is a 28-year-old lefty with a career 42-52 record and a 4.01 ERA in 134 starts. Lannan only started 6 games last season and went 4-1 with a 4.13 ERA. In his last full season in 2011 he went 10-13 with a 3.70 ERA in 34 starts.
The Phillies were looking for a low risk, high reward player, which is what they appear to have obtained with Lannan.
